Thank you for the kind words.
In the end, it was much addo about nothing, really.
Then again, why shouldn't I become DF's next Hallaster Blackcloak?

And the Wayfarer's Inn being known as the place of sinister conspiracies against geekdom will only bring us traffic that we wouldn't have otherwise.

Rafael, I am sorry that you got attacked on DF. It was totally uncalled for.

For everyone's interest I am trying to act as a go between for Mr Kask and Mr Arneson right now. Maybe we can have peace in our times...

The suggestion that a thread be started over there to give the perspective of Daves players is a good one. Failing that, a thread doing likewise here (although theres a bigger readership over there).

gvenson, good luck getting Tim and Dave reconciled. Noble cause.

Rafael, there are many things worth aspiring to. Being the next Hallaster isn't one of them

I called Dave (Mr Arneson) after I read Mr kask's post about the donut incident over the weekend and we talked about what happened. After hearing Dave's side of things I thought that if I talked to Mr Kask, the two of them could possibly be reconciled. After about a half dozen PMs back and forth, Mr Kask basically said he had lived without being reconciled with Dave for 30 years and he didn't see a reason to pursue this now.

Dave told me I could share his side of the story. I PMed to Mr kask about this before I posted it and he agreed to my posting this here.

I started by asking Dave if he was aware of what Mr Kask was saying about him out on Dragonsfoot. He said he was not. He then said "What did I ever do to him? I don't have anything against him."

I mentioned donuts and he said "Oh, yah, that was a really stupid thing for us to have done. I don't remember how that got started." He said that he initially offered to proof read the Dragon for Mr Kask and that Mr Kask declined. I asked Mr Kask about this and he said he thought Dave was trying to take over the editing of the Dragon, so he had refused. By the time Mr Kask was asking for help with the proofreading an incident had occured and Dave didn't care anymore what Mr Kask was doing.

As for the incident, since Mr Kask denies that it happened and Dave didn't actually see him do it, I will not share the details. But Dave felt he had a very good reason to be unhappy with Mr Kask. If the same thing had happened to me I would have been very upset, as well.

So, now you know the other side of the story.

Not sure if its a good idea to dig this up again, but it looks like there are more people Kask didn't get along with...

Somewhere along in there came Brian's brother Kevin--the most anal-retentive bean-counter it has ever been my misfortune to meet. (His shrew of a first wife might have been some of the reason he was the way he was. Ugghhh! What a harridan...)

...

I remember Lawrence (his insistence on the full name should have been a tip-off) but not at all kindly.

I snipped away all the people he posted positive comments about. I first reacted to the name Mike Carr since he was one of Dave's players. It is sad to see so much bad blood between the Blackmoor group and others.

I'm not sure who Lawrence is?

I am surprised that Mr Kask would have had a problem with Mike Carr. I always had the impression that Mike had been a good worker. From what I remember, Mike also stayed on at TSR longer than any of the other guys from the Twin Cities group that tried working for them in the early days. At the time I was impressed that Mike had kept on working there after all of the political problems...

You all know my opinion on this.

Apart from that, I am sad for the great community at DF,
because I doubt that many other early day TSR/D&D celebrities will come there for a Q&A if Mr Kask keeps badmouthing people.

However, if he feels that he has few other contributions to make than to speak ill of people he hasn't talked or dealt with for decades,
let him be.

Pretty sad, because I'd really would have liked to interview him, if he could behave more civilised.

I suppose that Lawrence refers to Larence Schick.

As to the rest....
