let's hope my white box (that i "won" on ebay 2 weeks ago) arrives soon.

that would make my time travel complete.

i've started with mentzer-d&d (the first version available in germany), then have checked out moldvay and holmes - now i'm ready for the white box. :haha:

White box is interesting; its a fine example of how simple a set of rules for D&D can be while still being entirely playable.

How did you get such a rare and exquisite dingus? did you get from a GERMAN seller?

*Oh, how envious I am.*

nope!

i've been "controlling" german ebay for 3 years now (d&d-wise) - and there has NEVER been a white box!

i think "controlling! is the right word - i know nearly all the sellers and most of the customers.

... but before you told me about your rules cyclopedia i had never had the idea too browse the "games"-category.

and there's one thing i must say about ebay.com - i HATE the fact that they have just ONE d&d-category - so when you're browsing it you have thousands and thousands of d&d miniatures that you're not interested in. i prefer the german ebay which has a completely different category for minis!

I had the same situation for a while, when I was trying to collect all things Ravenloft and Greyhawk.

And yes, that miniature thing is very annoying. Especially since many sellers don't care to put things into subcathegories, but simply put their items under "D&D". Browsing on ebay is indeed not very comfortable if one's looking for a special item. - I indeed buy most of the few things I still buy now at days at German ebay or *flee markets*. Never been much of a collector...

Yep, me too, but I would much prefer to have a box!

Congrats!

Congrats on the white box Glgnfz!

I have it on pdf, but it would be interesting to get a hard copy.

I like how later editions have remained true to the original in terms of core monsters, races etc.
