I also have the 1st edition version of this. It is in mint condition. Unfortunatly I bought this on ebay and probably paid to much. Especially since it was not what I was thinking it was. I was looking for something based on John DeChancie's fantasy book series. This is a game system with no connection to the books. I had seen a reference to this item in an on line list (maybe this same one) about 2000-2001 and had been looking for it ever since. No one I talked to had even heard of West Wind Games. Then I saw it on ebay and got into a bidding war with some gaming Museum out in California. After searching so long for it I WAS NOT going to be over bid. I ended up paying $125.00 for it. Like I said probably too much. Oh well, I do own a rare piece of gaming history
From the 2nd site:
Castle Perilous by James T. Sheldon
72pp Digest-size book with card cover + 5 reference sheets.
Published in 1980 by West Wind Simulations, Verona, Missouri.
Boxed Set - 72pp Digest-size book with card cover, 4pp booklet of tables, 4pp scenario booklet, 5 lead figures, 3 six sided dice, 3 additional poster booklets/play aids.
Republished (2nd Edition Boxed Set) in 1981 by West Wind Simulations, Verona, Missouri.
A complete FRP system emphasising the roleplaying aspect of the game. Rules are specifically designed to give players who act out their character's roles effectively a greater advantage. Image and description courtesy of Shane Glodoski.
This is the only known product from West Wind Simulations. They may have packaged the additional scenario booklets included within the 1981 boxed set separately, for owners of the 1980 1st Edition of Castle Perilous.
My copy includes the scenario book as well as all the other items listed in the box set except the d6. Instead it has a seperate chart that is to be used to generate a random number between 1 and 6 by placing your finger randomly on a column and running the finger of your other hand down a random distance. It is definatly the 1st edition book.
