SWORD OF XANTENSword of Xanten - RING OF THE NIBELUNGS. ANybody ever see this movie it's about Siegfried the dragon-slayer. I never even heard of it before I saw it on TV today. Is this some kind of European fable? Just curious.

Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King that's the name and it is a 2 parter. And there was a 2 parter earlier in the day about Earthsea and some young mage(This was a crappy one though) the Dark Kingdom much better.

Interestingly THE german epos has Odin and a Valkyre in it....

i don't remember them guys from the "nibelungen", but i haven't read the "deutsche heldensagen" in years...
i found this on wikipedia, so it seems that the story came to scandinavia later on.
"Die nordischen Sagen mit Sigurd sind zwar erst in jüngeren schriftlichen Aufzeichnungen erhalten als das Nibelungenlied, gehen aber zum Teil auf wesentlich ältere deutsche Vorlagen zurück und waren bei dessen Entstehung um 1200 in ganz Mittel- und Nordeuropa verbreitet."

No surprise. The germanic people worshipped exactly the same gods as the vikings although they gave them different names like Votan instead of Odin and Donar instead of Thor for example.
