Ready for the Grand Opening?

Hi all,

What do you think? - Is this page ready to be *released to the masses*, so to speak?

For the last months, I've been tinkering on how to fix things so far, and while the only problem that remains is the footer, I think I can open the place/advertise it again in what I believe will be its final/less flexible installment.

So, please tell me what you think!

Yours,

Yess!!!

Papasloth

Looks ready to me! Nice job.

Thanks! So I'll post some more adds as soon as I find the time!

Major changes on their way...

Reworking the site in part...

*BIG Opening* coming next week...

Actually thinking of merging some other boards...

Specifically the 1e and 2e board... Reason is not only that there's not much traffic there, but also that there are simply better sites to get info about them. This site's focus is - at least from what I see from how the discussion is going - more on OD&D and the corresponding settings...

Intuitively, that could work. The two systems are similar enough. The only issue might be that some people hate 2nd ed.
Rafael

Yeah, but as far as I see it, with about 20 regular posters, and about 50 registered lurkers, I don't see the danger for any bigger arguments.

Me being a known RC enthusiast already points to my rather unorthodox view of the game, so I doubt anyone will really mind that. Also, those at DF and K&K might aplaud for us not simply copying their forum concepts, but consciously trying to create something else.
Rafael

Merged the boards in a free moment..

Will complete work on the site over the next week...

Hi Rafael,
I just joined the forum. We have talked a number of times on the Blackmoor forum and the Necro Judges Guild forum. Your place looks good. I'll try to check in periodically.

Welcome, Hestrin! I was wondering if you were still checking the old JG pages now and then. Good to have you with us here!

Hi,

Rafael
I'm still reading the various JG forums. I just don't have much time for posting right now. I am working 12 hour days again and week ends too.
I managed to cut a finger off on Dec. 31 while visiting my daughter. I had it reattached but I was out of work for three and a half months. When I went back to work all that back log was waiting. The other three machinists had not been able to keep up even with overtime.
The paychecks are good after being on disability pay.
I have to have more surgery at the end of July and will be out of work for at least a month. I'll try to post more often then. It will be slow work though. I'll be hunting and pecking with one hand insread of two.
Anyway I'm glad you have this forum up. With Necro backing away from producing more Wilderlands products, a new forum not tied to any publisher is good.

I am mostly active on Necro's JG .com. Most of the time on lately JG.net I have just been redirecting new people to tne Necro forum and trying to bury spammers posts. I was doing that just because spammers piss me off. It was a losing battle though. The last month or so a spambot had started hitting it so I had given up. I noticed that the Admin on there has removed the spams there and is trying to set up blocks. It's probably a waste of time now. Most fans don't go there now and we have this bright new shiney forum to play in.

I am very shocked and sorry about hearing about your finger, my friend! Good luck on that next surgery, and I hope everything will be alright soon!

The lack of a usable/independent JG board was the reason I wanted to start this one here; I think the other ones were started by great people, but with JG.net being basically defunct, and the future of NG being unclear, I saw the danger of the web community getting out of touch over it.

If this board manages to establish itself on the long hand, I would like to set up a JG-focused website as well, but since I am just a poor student, I'll wait until this board here becomes really successful until I rent some webspace.

Am slowly working my way towards that with mine http://www.acaeum.com/jg/ and am always looking for help and suggestions on what people want to see.
With printings/info for the most part taken care of and a valuation board to handle gathering price info, I can now focus on other things (currently doing a comprehensive print run history/time line and ads from magazines)

Could use some major help from those with any of the harder to find magazines/fanzines I've listed here: http://www.acaeum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5740
(need ads/reviews/mentions/etc in the form of scans/photos)

Maybe, if this board continues to prosper, we can work something out together. If one knows where to get it, server space is fairly cheap, so that would definitely be workable. Right now, I have no idea how that would work out, however, but I think one could definitely get things going. I'll check this more closely when I have finished arranging GrogCon Europe.

As to the mags, I think I have an idea where to find more info about them!
I stumbled over a site detailing the UK fantasy mags from the late 70s and early 80s awhile ago. Let's see if I can find that page again...
Rafael

Can't find it any more. Now, I am not too skilled with google, so maybe somebody else might have more luck...
