I for my part can't wait to see this third installment of the series.
It's action, it's historical, it's usually good acting - that's all I want from an enjoyable movie these days... But then again, I am a nerd, don't listen to me. :smt002

I'd see it for Geoffrey Rush alone. I attribute the second film's meh-ness to his absence.

I enjoyed the second part, just found it a mess how they treated Orlando Bloom's character - it wasn't his acting, it were the texts that made him difficult to bear.
Geoffrey made a good Barbossa, though I am indeed sceptical if the explanation of his return will convince me...

The Voodoo Lady ressurrected him. Just like with LeChuck in Monkey Island.
I loved the first and second part. Notice how the story of the second film parallells with Star Wars Episode V?

I'm looking forward to it! I liked the other two movies, the cast... and the visual effects were excellent.
I like also the return of Geofrey Rush, he is a great actor and I be the will be very important to this film.

In May, I think. :smt001 But that's only the US release date... Though I don't believe they will let Europeans wait for this too long...

Interesting that you mentioned Star Wars. Going back the the 1970's I have always considered Star Wars (the original) to be the "ultimate movie" which I rate 10 out of 10. In part I based this on the fact that I saw it 20+ times at the theatre and have never seen any other movie anywhere near that number of times. Star Wars (the original) is a movie that I watch every chance it's on TV -- even with commercials -- even though I own it on VHS and DVD.
Every time I see a movie, I always compare it to Star Wars (the original).
When Pirates of the Caribbean (the original) came out I had to revise my opinion. Although I didn't see it quite as many times I decided that it was the only other movie I have ever seen which ties Star Wars (the original) and deserves a rating of 10 out of 10.
Wat PotC II as good? Impossible, any more than any sequel can ever really rival the original. The first movie of anything tends to be best because there is a sense of wonder and of finding out about something for the first time. A sequal always says "yes, you know about it but can we top it" and somehow never is as amazing because you already were surprised the first time. If it's more of the same people say it's not creative and if it's not the same people complain that it's been changed.
Having said that, PotC II was a lot of fun for me and my kids and we are all looking forward to PotC III in May.
