Very sad. My life would have been very different if it hadn't been for mr Gygax and his wonderful game

Well when I think of D&D , only one name comes to mind(habit I never knew of Dave before I met Rafael and joined the Blackmoor site) and that is Gary Gygax. No offense to Dave or his fans. RIP Gary.

As I said on DF, from the little I knew Mr Gygax from online chat,
I learned he was a very friendly person, with great patience and wit.
I know that among us nerds, there was always a habit similar to "you can't be a Gygaxian D&D fan if you're an Arnesonian D&D fan", but that's just BS.
I highly respected Mr Gygax not only for his work, but because I came to know him as general all-around nice guy.
I am glad that I had the chance to chat with him ocassionally,
and I feel like I lost a friend in him.

QFT.
I have yet to meet a fan of Arneson who isn't also a fan of Gygax.
I love Blackmoor and the works of Dave Arneson, but Gary will truly missed. I feel that I owe him a great deal.

In a way, Gary has influenced my life more than any other person except for my parents. I miss him.

Let's try and think of an idea why we here can honour him in a special way.
Any ideas already?

I started a campaign dedicated to him.

What about an online game? I'd be volunteering as DM...
Glgnfz

count me in!
Rafael
Me too! What about T1? - I want to play a GNOME! *Clarence will know why I wink*
Sir Clarence
T1 is cool, but then I suppose that most people know it already. Or don't you?
I was thinking of one of the adventures from EGG'S Hall Of Many Panes instead which I suppose is far less known.
tarlyn
DUnno what T1 is. but able and willing to play.
Rafael
I am okay with that as well. Just thought T1 would be more oldschool.
And kicking Lareth's ass never gets boring...
Thank you for many of my daydreams, Gary!

First part of "The Temple of the Elemental Evil" campaign. Big classic.

First published by TSR as The Village of Hommlett in 1982.
Let's see how many members are willing to play and how many of those know T1. In case it's only you, Rafael, we can give it a try.
Another oldschool option would be the Tomb of Horrors....
Glgnfz
i have dmed and played it, too...
Sir Clarence
That's the problem with the classics, isn't it? Nearly every DM knows them.
So what are we going to do? In case you want to play something from Gary that is unknown to you, I'd suggest an adventure from HoMP. But if you guys think that a classic is more fitting to the situation, we can as well play T1 if you think that it's fun for you even though you know it.
So far we have Rafael, Glgnfz and tarlyn as players. My suggestion would be to play online via Yahoo messenger, although I'm open to other ideas.
What time zone are you in, tarlyn?
tarlyn
I am in Montreal so a little behind you guys in Europe
tarlyn
Hmmm we might also try the Dragonsfoot as well. I have played a few times in one of Rafael's games and it worked quite fine
Rafael
Or maybe a short PbP-game here?
I am a bit short on time these days, especially this week.

That might be a good idea. Why not pay tribute to Mr Gygax here?
Sir Clarence
PbP is fine with me. Do you want to open up a new forum for this, Rafael?
Do you guys think that three players are fine or should we try to recruit a few more players from DF?
Anyway, I'd like to hear which adventure you would like to play. I offer the following:
• The Village of Hommlett
• Dungeon Crawl (from Hall of Many Panes)
• Necropolis
• Steading of the Hill Giant Chief
Glgnfz
perhaps we could play two characters each.
"necropolis"?!? the 25236236 page gygax 3e-module - i have got that monster, but we could only play a small chapter...
so gimme the steading! i've never played or dmed it - although i own it, but i promise i won't cheat.
Rafael
I also don't own Necropolis - if it isn't too much, we maybe could really try that one!
Sir Clarence
I didn't want to play the whole Necropolis adventure but only its core chapter, the Tomb of Rahotep. Think Tomb of Horrors, but worse....
Rafael
tarlyn
MmmmmmmMmMmmmMMMMM,,,,,,,, Tomb of Horrors....
NEcropolis idon't own or have ever seensoitsounds good to me. How many p.cs and what levels? I'm sure Raf can open a thread here for the PbP
Glgnfz
the cover says it's for levels 10-18 (3e) and the first sentence of the foreword is:
"necropolis is, in our opinion, one of the finest adventures ever written..."
so, clarence this'd better be really good!
Sir Clarence
Whatever you guys want.
I've DMed Necropolis once and I think that a group of six characters of levels 14-16 have a chance to make it. This would either mean a few more players or two characters for each one of you. I'll ask two friends (from England and the US) whether they would like to participate? Since we've decided to do this PbP, time zones don't matter anymore.

tarlyn

P.C creation from what edition? 1st or 2nd would be appropriate of course. There is also Castles and Crusades as well which is Mr Gygax's.
Hey did any of you play a game this weekend in honor of Mr Gygax? Mine fell through because of snow, but within the next two weeks we will play one of Mr GYgax's modules
Rafael

I'll create the board in a sec! I am a bit short on time right now, but I'll you mod rights, Clarence, so you can do however you want there!

Raf, we don't get to any new thread. I think you need to open a new thread. Guys, what do you think? I am pretty sure the link brings us to the same threads a before

Yeah so Sir Clarence I am presuming it is a 1st or 2nd edition campaign

Click again, Stevo!
