I happened to be waiting to get into a demo game at the WotC booth when I heard a plop behind me. I look to see several Basic D&D items being offered at $2 a piece.
A Moldvay Basic (later autographed by by Erol Otus)

I also had Gary Gygax, Frank Mentzer and Larry Elmore autograph my Mentzer Basic book.
I guess I was being a fan boy a little, but what the heck. It was my first Gencon.
There were other B, X & CM mods I could have bought, but some of them were a little pricy. Maybe next time, or on ebay.

hey! i had missed that thread! and ONE DAY i'll go to gencon, too.

... but waiting for a wotc-demo game?!? shame on you! ;-)
