Been playing some of this on Wednesday evenings.

Nice, simple, straightforward d20 derivative, lends heavily on the old Lone Wolf books.

A bit munchy for my tastes though.

Anyone else tried it?

A D20 book about lone wolf world? I think somewhere I have heard about it but it seemed to lack the flavor of the books according to what I remember...

It does indeed lack some of that flavour, but as our DM is well into those books (frequelntly trotting them out where they have better maps than the game book) we're not really missing out there.

Are you aware that most of the old LW stuff is available online and for free already? *Sorry, forgot the exact link.*

Especially the Magnamund Companion PDF can be of use if one wants to start a game.

They are as good as when I read them... 12 years ago? 15? That's when I read some of them. Still I remembered some parts. A description here, a picture there...

I have already played through books 1,2 and I'm playing 6. I didn't like book 3 much and I remember book 4 quite well. Especially the canyon.

I rolled a 9 on the initial CSkill, so my char is lethal as a viper. Combined with the weapon masteries, the mind blast and the Sommerswerd he ends up with something like CS 33.

I always cheated with those books... But, darn, I am happy to see that line relaunched! With WotC killing off or perverting so many of my favourite childhood toys, I am glad that LW and Lankhmar are in good hands...

Well, I have cheated too when I first read the books but believe me most of the time it spoils the fun. It makes what is a single-person RPG to a mostly normal book.
OK I still am annoyed when I do something and "Bang! Your life and adventures end here" but I don't cheat anymore. I just consider that I "Save" the game every once a while. I.e If I'm tragically killed becaused I rolled low when the storm broke out, I go to the last place I have "Saved" and replay from there on. I usually make the same choices so the text flies by fast.
